International Seminar on Geographical Indications Held in Jinan, Shandong

The International Seminar on Geographical Indications, co-organized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), was held in Jinan, Shandong Province on September 19. CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu, WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying, Vice Governor of Shandong Province Wang Guiying and Jinan Mayor Yu Haitian attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Denis Loukou Bohoussou, Director General of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), representatives from WIPO's Lisbon Registry and China Office, heads and representatives from relevant IP offices of African countries were also present at the conference, which was presided over by CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Lu Pengqi.

At the conference, principal officials from CNIPA departments and IP administrations of some provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and distinguished guests from the WIPO, OAPI, African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and relevant IP offices of African countries had profound discussion on IP as a tool to promote economy and rural development.
