I. Patent Authorizations
This month, we secured 209 patent grants in China (based on the issuance date of authorization notices), including:
42 invention patents 95 utility model patents 72 design patents
For international patents, we obtained 5 grants, all for invention patents. Key jurisdictions include the United States, European Patent Office, and South Korea.
II. Key Legal Case Updates
Invention Patent Reexamination (Decision No. 1874213)
Our Partner Mr. Yi Zhao, representing the patent holder, received a reexamination decision on January 7, 2025, overturning the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA)’s rejection decision dated July 26, 2024. The case has been remanded to the original examination department for further review.
Patent Validity Case (Decision No. 583982)
Our Partner Mr. Yi Zhao, representing the patent holder in an invalidation request, received a decision on January 6, 2025, confirming the validity of the patent. This case marked another collaborative effort between the Shenzhen Intellectual Property Court and the CNIPA Reexamination and Invalidation Department in a joint trial addressing patent validity and infringement.

Patent Invalidation Case (Decision No. 584469)
Our Partner Mr. Yi Zhao, representing the patent holder, received a decision on January 20, 2025, upholding the full validity of the amended patent claims.
Utility Model Patent Invalidation Appeal (Case No.: [2024] Zui Gao Fa Zhi Xing Zhong 1004)
Our Partner Mr. Yi Zhao, representing the invalidation requester, secured a second-instance judgment from the Supreme People’s Court on January 22, 2025, dismissing the appellant’s claims.
Sales Contract Dispute (Case No.: [2024] Yue 0309 Min Chu 3321)
Our Partner Ms. Xiao Jingjing, representing a citizen in a dispute against a company, obtained a first-instance judgment from the Longhua District People’s Court of Shenzhen on January 3, 2025, fully upholding our client’s claims. The judgment took effect on January 21, 2025.
III. Events & Engagements
January 5, 2025: Our Partner Ms. Xiao Jingjing attended the “2024 Annual Conference & New Year Celebration of the Shenzhen Changde Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Bay Area Xidongting Chamber of Commerce” and was honored with the “Voluntary Service Award”.
January 10, 2025: Our Partner Ms. Xiao Jingjing was invited to the “2025 Annual Gala of Huofeng Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.”, a long-term legal advisory client.
January 10–11, 2025: Our Colleagues from Refined Intellectual Property Office and Rui Fengda Law Firm gathered in Zhaoqing for their annual meeting and team-building retreat. The event celebrated achievements from the past year and set the stage for future goals.
January 12, 2025: Our Partner Ms. Xiao Jingjing hosted and participated in the “2024 Annual Review & 2025 Work Plan Meeting of the Shenzhen Changde Chamber of Commerce Youth Committee”, receiving the “Special Contribution Award”.
