CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Heads Delegation to Italy, Türkiye and UAE for Working Visits

Upon invitation, Liao Tao, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) headed a delegation to Italy, the Republic of Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for working visits.

During the visit to Italy, Liao held talks with the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry to share wisdom on legislation and protection of geographical indications (GIs) and other issues of common concern and discuss over the establishment of bilateral cooperation. While meeting with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, the CNIPA delegation signed the two offices' 2024 working plan and held an information session for the public to introduce the latest development of the Chinese IP system.

During the visit to Türkiye, the delegation attended the World Congress of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), sharing the latest progress of the Chinese IP legal system and talked with heads of the Türk Patent ve Marka Kurumu (TÜRKPATENT) and the AIPPI respectively over cooperation issues.

During the visit to the UAE, the delegation had talks with the UAE Ministry of Economy over cooperation issues, attended a roundtable dialogue with the IP offices of the UAE Ministry of Justice and Federal Customs Authority, sharing comments on IP protection and visited the innovation center of the Dubai Police upon invitation.
