Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) met the visiting Abdulla Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain. At the meeting, the two sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property Between the National Intellectual Property Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Patent Prosecution Highway Pilot Program between the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Bahrain.
Shen said that the Chinese government has been attaching great importance to IP protection and President Xi Jinping has given important instructions on it for several times. In recent years, the relation between China and Bahrain has been maintaining the steady and healthy development under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state. The signing of the two memorandums of understanding marks the further enhancement of the IP cooperation between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as well as its member countries. He wished the two sides would enhance communication and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and bilateral frameworks and boost the development of the IP systems in both countries.
Fakhro said that China's Belt and Road Initiative is in perfect sync with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. China has achieved great outcomes in IP protection. He expected to learn the relevant experiences from China, strengthen practical cooperation between the two sides and pursue mutual benefit and win-win results.
CNIPA principal officials responsible for relevant departments also attended the meeting.
