Liao Tao, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) met John Conway, President of INTERPAT and Senior Vice President of Sanofi Group in Beijing recently.
Liao said that the Chinese government has been attaching great importance to IP protection. The CNIPA is willing to intensify communication with enterprises and business associations, listen to their comments and proposals, and keep deepening IP protection in an active and open manner, with an aim to create a top-notch business environment characterized by market-oriented, rule-of-law and international standards for domestic and international enterprises.
Conway appreciated the CNIPA's efforts in heightening IP protection in the pharmaceutical field in recent years and introduced the INTERPAT's IP protection practice.
The two sides also shared comments on the early resolution mechanism of pharmaceutical patent disputes and adjudication of pharmaceutical patent reexamination and invalidation cases. CNIPA principal officials responsible for relevant departments also attended the meeting.
